Who is the winner of my 2017 Natural Deodorant Challenge?
I know the suspense is freaking killing you, so read on to find out…
Selecting a safe and effective natural deodorant STINKS. In the first portion of this three part series, I showed you how to ditch your chemical-laden anti-perspirant and select a safer alternative. So what is considered “safe?” Well flip that bottle over and read the ingredients! Here is a good rule of thumb: If the ingredients listed on the back of your products appear to be written in a foreign language, but are clearly in English, then you probably want to cut ties.
The top five most harmful ingredients typically found in chemical based deodorants are parabens, phalates, triclosan and the worst offender of them all; aluminum. All of these ingredients have been linked to a whole host of health risks including cancer, reproductive toxicity and allergic reactions.
In the second installment of my three part series, I reviewed five of the most popular brands, including Soapwalla, Agent Nateur, Ursa Major, Meow Meow Tweet and Schmidt’s and then gave you my full report:
And now it’s time for the grand finale. And the winner of my 2017 Deodorant Challenge is…..
SOAPWALLA! (with Agent Nateur coming in a close second).
You guys I am completely, utterly obsessed with this deodorant. Like breathing, family, kids and Soapwalla. And not necessarily in that order.
Soapwalla, why do I love thee? Let me count the ways:
- The compact, convenient and travel-ready packaging.
Okay so I know that most deodorant applicators are not exactly massive, but there is something really cool and convenient about this small round container. I have one in my bathroom, the middle console in my car, my gym bag and my travel case! And truly, the packaging is so incredibly discreet that I could literally put it in my pocket and sneak small little whiffs throughout the day and no one would notice the difference.
2. The light and minty scent
Over the course of this challenge I developed a strong aversion to low-quality essential oils and things that smelled too much like pine needles and dude. Ick. But Soapwalla is really unique in that it was able to keep me sweet smellin’ without too strong of a scent. It’s light, minty and can work for both you and that man in your life. I highly encourage you to take a whiff right out of the container….you will feel all the feels.
3. Great consistency
If you’ve been following my deodorant challenge, you will know that I am NOT a fan of the deodorant pastes. And by not a fan, I mean I absolutely hate it. But Soapwalla is different than most deodorant pastes on the market. It is more of what I like to refer to as a “craste.” Like if cream and paste were to get together and have a love child. In addition, Soapwalla goes on light and the excess can easily be rubbed into my hands like a moisturizing cream. And who doesn’t need a little more moisture in their life?
4. It werks, werks, werks, werks, werks!!!
Over the past couple years, I’ve had a heck of time finding a long-lasting natural deodorant that can fit my absolutely insane lifestyle, as well as my Type A, neurotic, always-on-the-move, self. But this one fits the bill! I apply it in the morning and it lasts throughout my entire hectic day which starts with school-drop off Armageddon and ends with me running circles around my house trying to keep up with my kids. Somewhere in the midst of that is an ultra sweaty workout session. By the time I actually settle in for some R&R, which usually consists of horrendous reality television and ice cream, I still don’t smell. Like at all. And if you’re wondering if I had the time, patience or motivation to change and take a shower during all of this craziness, the answer is, absolutely not. So basically, Soapwalla can keep up with your insanely busy lifestyle which may not include a shower.
STILL DON’T BELIEVE ME?
